The Mrs. and I headed up to Scotland this past weekend for the Helensburgh 10km followed by a nice long weekend exploring the Low Lands. First off, I’m proud to say that the results are in (PDF), and that we both killed our targets!
- Jen was shooting for an hour but finished in 55:09, an 8:52 minute/mile &
- I was targeting 52 minutes but finished in 48:52 a 7:52 minute/mile.
All in all, good stuff.
Speaking of running, I’ve just passed my 3 months training mark and it feels good to have been keeping this up for that long. Here’s those past 3 months by the numbers, as tracked by the elegant and excellent Runner’s Log.app.
- Number of runs: 46
- Total distance: 184 miles
- Total time: 28 hours 44 minutes @ 9:29min/mi overall average pace
- Longest run: 14 miles @ 9:07min/mi
- Calories burned: 28,560 (equals ~168 pints of Guinness)
117 days to go to Odense!

I’m very proud of you and you’ve been such a fantastic inspiration for me!
Looking forward to Odense!

[…] The Walkington 10k was a little over a week ago and went really well. Despite the hillier course and not having tapered for it I still ran a 49:12 which was only 20 seconds slower than Helensburgh. […]
